The Center for Competitiveness in the Construction Industry (CCCI) |
CCCI provides personnel services to staff the operation of the Great Lakes Construction Alliance (GLCA). The GLCA, a tripartite group consisting of owners of construction projects, building trades unions, and construction contractors, has developed a number of value-added programs for the construction industry, including drug testing, safety training, a code of excellence, and is currently working on a security program to ensure the quality workforce on a construction project.
The CCCI director oversees the GLCA drug testing program, coordinates GLCA membership and Board meetings and is responsible for ongoing development of the GLCA security program.
The GLCA is examining other potential programs that would also come under the control of the Center. One of them is the GLCA Code of Excellence Scorecard program, which is designed to promote jobsite excellence and customer satisfaction. Specifically the CCCI is working on development of a computerized method of quickly assembling the data collected so that it can be used in a timely and meaningful way on the jobsite.
Additionally, having a dedicated staff person allows the GLCA to seriously pursue relationships with additional construction owners from both the public and private sectors in the area.
